These group classes are one or two sessions long and give the benefit of learning in a supportive environment with a community of similarly interested learners.

Intro to Embroidery Series

Over a fun and relaxed 8 weeks, we will delve into the world of hand Embroidery. Starting out with some basic techniques and beginner stitches, we will then continue on to explore specific embroidery styles including surface embroidery, cross-stitch, sashiko, blackwork and more! These classes will include a number of small projects and samplers which will showcase your newfound embroidery skills. See for yourself how enjoyable and meditative slow-stitching can be!

All classes will take place in the main studio at Wonder'neath.
Classes include all the required supplies and soup, coffe
e/tea and snacks to enjoy during the mid session break.

Surface Embroidery

Are you interested in learning embroidery or brushing up your skills? This two-part class is perfect for beginners who want to learn in a relaxed and enjoyable environment. We will give you an overview of the basic tools and supplies needed for embroidery. After that, you will learn a selection of the most useful surface embroidery stitches. In the second session, we will teach you how to create and transfer your own embroidery designs, so you can continue stitching at home. Get inspired and explore the beauty of embroidery today!

Sashiko 

Spend a relaxed evening learning this beautiful and meditative form of Japanese embroidery. We will cover two styles of Sashiko (Moyouzashi and Hitomezashi) and also talk about some of the history behind this traditional craft. The sashiko kit provided will include instructions to complete a small project so that you can put your new found Sashiko skills to use!

Visible Mending

Visible mending is currently a popular trend, and for good reason. It allows you to extend the life of your clothes, reducing textile waste and giving you the opportunity to add creative and custom elements to make your wardrobe unique. This class combines patching, darning and embroidery, to transform a mundane chore into a fun and beautiful experience. Bring your pile of mending along to receive help in troubleshooting specific problems, or just practice with the materials provided.

Counted Stitch Embroidery

Are you someone who loves to keep things organized and enjoys playing with patterns and geometry? If so, then you're in for a treat! This class explores the world of counted stitch embroidery, with a focus on cross stitch and blackwork. We'll also take a modern approach to these ancient techniques by incorporating contemporary design applications. By the end of the class, you'll have learned all the basic stitches and techniques to create a custom-designed project that will surely impress.

Beading and Embellishment

Once class is done you'll be able to create stunning accents on any item of your choice. This class is tailored to help you acquire the skills needed to enhance the beauty and depth of your embroidery.

Stumpwork

Do you have some embroidery experience and are looking to take your skills to the next level? Then this class is for you! Stumpwork is a decorative form of 3-dimensional embroidery and is so much fun! Over two exciting sessions we will cover a number of the basic stumpwork techniques, including padded stitches, wire work, turkey work and more. You will then put these to use to create your own piece of stumpwork art framed in a mini hoop.

Tapestry Weaving

In this two part class students will make their own simple peg loom and create small woven wall hangings. We will cover all the steps from making and warping the loom, to finishing and hanging your project. A number of tapestry weaving techniques will be discussed as will elements of composition and design. This is a perfect hobby to bring you joy and relaxation during the upcoming long winter evenings.

Stuffy Class:

(Adult/Child sew together)

Spend a fun and relaxing Sunday afternoon stitching with the special child in your life, and give them the immense satisfaction of seeing their creations come to life. Using my thoroughly tested method and a combination of hand and machine sewing, a simple child's drawing will become a soft stuffy they will carry away and love forever. 

No previous experience necessary, all supplies included, ages 4 and up.

Sewing Machine Clinic

Are you feeling overwhelmed by the maintenance of your sewing machine? Do you need help adjusting the tension and using the basic features of your machine? If so, then this class is just what you need! We will teach you everything you need to know to get started using your sewing machine, from the types of needles to use, how to thread and wind bobbins, to cleaning and oiling your machine. You'll be amazed at how much you can accomplish with just a little guidance and support. Plus, you'll have the opportunity to troubleshoot any issues you may have with your machine. Please note that your machine must be in good working order, as this is not a machine repair shop.
